- "Exquisite
French porcelain from the Royal manufactory of Sevres.
Decorated in 1775 by the French Sevres artist Commelin
- potted then, or perhaps a little earlier. This is an
example of the more durable French hard paste
porcelain that replaced the softer post Vincennes pate
tendre after 1760. Rare pieces of Sevres quality and
pedigree are not easily found outside museum and major
collections..."

piece is recorded as painter of "Garlands and
bouquets".
- Provenance:
From the treasured china collection of a
lady.
- Dimensions:
width 138 mm max.
- Marks: the
two L's in reversed cyphers, as illustrated, with date
code for year of manufacture 1775; the monogram of the
Sevres artist Commelin; the mark of the gilder of this
piece Theodore.
- Condition:
No significant defects in our opinion. There is a
little minor wear to gilding. This is to be expected
in a piece of this type.
